Would you like to increase your knowledge of energy saving and sustainable living practices at home? Do you like to meet people, to be part of a team, and to give back to your community? OSU Extension Service Benton County has a volunteer program for you, theNeighborhood Sustainability Steward Program.
Join our team! To become a Neighborhood Sustainability Steward you need to:
Attend an eight-week training course (8 consecutive Tuesday evenings, plus one Saturday field day). Topics covered:
- Climate change science
- Household energy and emission reductions
- Food systems and choices
- Sustainable landscapes
- Water savings and issues
- Waste reduction
- Transportation choices and options
- The values, ethics, and behavior surrounding lifestyle change
Give back to your community by volunteering at least 30 hours of education outreach over the following year. Share what you learn by volunteering in teams: tabling at events, working with students, speaking to groups, partnering with other sustainable oriented organizations on energy saving projects, writing articles, and the possibilities go on.
Course starts: October 18, 2011 and runs for 8 consecutive Tuesdays (plus, 1 Saturday day-time field day scheduled for October 29th)

Cost: $50.00 covers all your materials
