Despite a somewhat underwhelming UFC Fight Night event, combat sports fans found excitement in the `Dirty Boxing Championship` this weekend.
The inaugural `official` DBX event was a success, highlighted by impressive knockout victories from UFC veterans Andrei Arlovski and Yoel Romero.
DBX1 also attracted notable personalities, including streamer Adin Ross, who suggested he might venture into influencer-driven combat sports promotion after experiencing the event.
Adin Ross at Dirty Boxing Championship`s Debut Event
Adin Ross, the well-known Kick streamer, was present at the `Dirty Boxing Championship 1` in Miami, Florida. He shared his positive impressions of the event with Danny Segura.
“I`m here to watch these heavyweights clash. So far, it`s really cool… The vibe is great, like a smaller Vegas boxing event – awesome atmosphere and energy. Really amazing.”
Considering the growing popularity of influencer boxing and Ross`s prominent position in the streaming world, could the Kick star be considering entering the ring himself?
“I aspire to be the next Dana White,” Ross joked, admitting, “I don’t see myself actually fighting.”
“Firstly, my parents would object, and secondly, I think my strength lies in promotion – organizing fights, that`s my area. I don`t think I`ll be stepping into the ring.”
Yoel Romero Secures Dramatic Knockout Victory at DBX1
Adin Ross`s presence further underscores the Dirty Boxing Championship`s growing impact on combat sports enthusiasts since its initial behind-closed-doors event in late 2024.
This impact is partly due to the star power of its headliner, `The Soldier of God,` who has now featured in two events.
In the DBX1 main event, Yoel Romero started slowly, allowing his much taller opponent, Ras Hylton, to control the first two rounds with his jab.
However, the former UFC fighter then began targeting Hylton`s body, and by the third round, Romero found his rhythm.
With about 30 seconds remaining in the round, Romero landed a decisive right hand, sending Hylton crashing to the canvas.
In the DBX1 co-main event, Andrei Arlovski secured a TKO victory due to doctor`s stoppage after inflicting a severe cut on Terrance Hodges.
With a successful first major event and Jon `Bones` Jones as a new co-owner, the Dirty Boxing Championship`s future looks very promising.
