Amélie Mauresmo Welcomes Direct Talks on Player Prize Money Demands

Sport news

Amélie Mauresmo, the Director of Roland Garros, has expressed her support for the ongoing discussions concerning prize money at Grand Slam events.

Her comments come after player representatives from the ATP and WTA tours collectively sent a letter to the Grand Slam organizers, formally requesting an increase in prize funds.

Speaking on the matter, Mauresmo stated: `I am very pleased that direct dialogue has finally begun. I say this from the perspective of a former player. There are no intermediaries involved here who might have their own agendas that differ from the interests of the players themselves.`

She further added that she believes open communication is key to ensuring positive development for all parties involved. Mauresmo conveyed confidence that once specific financial figures are on the table, the process will move forward constructively.

`The primary objective is for everything to progress in a positive direction and ultimately benefit everyone,` Mauresmo concluded during a press conference held after the Roland Garros tournament.
