Anastasia Potapova Prioritizes Singles, Skips US Open Mixed Doubles

Sport news

Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova, ranked 39th in the world, has confirmed her decision not to participate in the mixed doubles tournament at the upcoming US Open.

She stated that the main priority for her and her team is preparing thoroughly for the singles competition. When asked about potentially playing mixed doubles, especially since the event is scheduled before the main draw matches this year, Potapova explained her reasoning:

“It`s better to spend this week preparing for the US Open than to go out and have fun in mixed. This is simply not our story,” Potapova commented, emphasizing the focus required for the singles event.

Thus, the athlete will be fully concentrated on her singles matches in New York.
