Andrey Rublev Comments on Favorite Exits at Madrid Masters

Sport news

World No. 8 Andrey Rublev has offered his perspective on the fact that several favored players have been eliminated from contention at the Madrid Masters tournament.

Among those who exited were Carlos Alcaraz, who withdrew before the second round due to injury, and Novak Djokovic, who lost at the same stage to Matteo Arnaldi. Rublev himself also saw his run end, falling to Alexander Bublik and therefore unable to defend the title he won previously.

Responding to a question about whether the exits of top seeds might lead to an unexpected champion at this Masters event, the Russian stated: “Let`s see. There are still many strong players left, many good names. It`s too early to say anything yet.”
