Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick, in a podcast with Kim Clijsters, shared his observations on the distinctive qualities of Mirra Andreeva’s tennis.
Roddick commented, “It’s funny, when she hits a winner, people are taken aback. It’s not that she overpowers opponents, but she seems to find the perfect shot trajectory. She can hit short angles, she can play it high. It’s unusual.”
He added, “Her serve is strong, but her overall game reminds me of Martina Hingis. Hingis played anticipating her opponent’s moves, always a step ahead. I think the best comparison is a combination of you and Hingis in terms of her court coverage and the way she executes forehands from various positions. There isn’t a more multifaceted player than her on the Tour,” Roddick stated.
