Armand Duplantis Named Laureus Sportsman of the Year

Swedish pole vault athlete and world record holder, Armand Duplantis, has been recognized as `Sportsman of the Year` at the Laureus World Sports Awards 2025.

Duplantis, a two-time Olympic champion and two-time world champion, was nominated alongside:

  • Carlos Alcaraz (Spain, Tennis, four-time Grand Slam champion, world No. 3)
  • Max Verstappen (Netherlands, Formula 1, four-time Formula 1 champion)
  • Leon Marchand (France, Swimming, four-time Olympic champion 2024)
  • Tadej Pogacar (Slovenia, Cycling, three-time Tour de France champion)

The Laureus Award nominees are shortlisted through a vote by over 1000 sports media representatives from more than 70 countries. The Laureus World Sports Academy then selects the winners from these shortlists.
