Barbora Strýcová Completes “Hardest Sporting Challenge” at Prague Marathon

Sport news

Former doubles world number one Barbora Strýcová successfully completed the Prague Marathon. She covered the classic distance of 42.195 km in 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 39 seconds.

Sharing her thoughts on social media, Strýcová described it as her “first marathon” and stated, “What can I say – I gave it my absolute all. This is probably the hardest sporting challenge I have ever undertaken… but it was so worth it! What an experience! From moments of pure euphoria to hitting tough patches around the 25km and 37km marks, and even tears before the start listening to `Vltava` play. A huge thank you to everyone who supported me, both along the route and from a distance. I truly cannot express how much I value that. That 3:18 time – I doubt my legs will ever forget it!”

The 39-year-old Strýcová retired from professional tennis for the second time after Wimbledon 2023. She also welcomed a daughter in 2024.
