World No. 13 Ben Shelton discussed the possibility of bringing back his signature `phone` celebration.
He commented on expressions on court: “In tennis, for some reason, swearing is frowned upon, although it`s normal in other sports. I don`t understand why everything is so strict here. I think a little expression could benefit tennis, make it livelier.”
Regarding the phone celebration, he added, “I haven`t done it for a while, but maybe I`ll bring it back this season.”
The young American also spoke about his relationship with his father and coach, Bryan.
“My father and I have a great relationship – both personal and professional,” Shelton stated. “We respect each other and work as a team. This year, I decided to add an element of surprise to my game: come to the net more often, surprise opponents. I don`t want to just be a powerful baseliner. Together with Dad, we work on this every day in practice.”
