Former world number one Boris Becker shared his perspective on whether this year`s Roland Garros could potentially be Novak Djokovic`s last appearance at the tournament.
“When I think about it, I get goosebumps again – just like that evening,” Becker commented. “Sooner or later, it had to happen. He`s 38 years old and having an average season. A semi-final in Melbourne is great, a final in Miami is great. But on clay, apart from Geneva, he didn`t achieve his goals. And he has to ask himself: if he`s not winning as much anymore, why continue?”
Becker added, “He wants to win 25 Grand Slams; he`s focused on that. I think he`s still good on grass. It`s easier for him there than on clay. And with what he showed last week, why not continue? But in a year… who knows if we`ll see him at Roland Garros again?”
