The highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will no longer conflict with a major UFC pay-per-view event.
This significant boxing bout is scheduled for September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Initially, UFC President Dana White was involved in promoting the event, but his role changed due to a clash with the planned UFC 320, which was set for Arena Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, on the same night.
However, a recent announcement during UFC Vegas 107 confirmed that the third annual Noche UFC show has been relocated and downgraded.
Noche UFC 3 Event Changes Announced
For several weeks, there has been considerable speculation regarding the status of UFC 320, largely stemming from venue-related issues.
Following the confirmation of the Canelo vs. Crawford date, fans expressed concern that the UFC event might face further significant setbacks.
These worries were substantiated on Saturday night when the UFC officially announced that the event would be moved to San Antonio, Texas, and would be downgraded from a pay-per-view to a Fight Night card.
An official post on the UFC`s X account stated: “The 3rd annual #NocheUFC will now take place at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas on September 13.”
The announcement further clarified that the Noche UFC Fight Night card aims to “celebrate and honor the remarkable contributions of Mexican fighters to combat sports and continues UFC’s great tradition of holding an event around Mexican Independence Day.”
Fan Reactions to the UFC 320 News
UFC enthusiasts took to online platforms to share their reactions and opinions regarding the changes to the event.
Some fans voiced disappointment about the change of location from Mexico. One user commented, “That sucks I wanted to go to Mexico,” a sentiment echoed by another user. Another suggested a different venue: “Should do it in the Sphere again.”
Questions were also raised about the decision to move the event out of Mexico if it`s intended to celebrate Mexican fighters: “Why not fight in Mexico if it’s for Mexicans? I don’t get it,” one comment read.
The change in event status also prompted questions about the designation of UFC 320: “So no longer a PPV but a fight night card, what happens to UFC 320 then,” a fan inquired.
Highlighting the direct competition, another fan stated: “Y’all gotta move this event or blow us away. Cause I’m be on that Canelo vs. Crawford fight.”
Finally, one fan made a specific request regarding potential matchups on the card, pleading: “Do not book Volk v. Yair.”
