Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford date change causes clash with massive UFC event

Boxing news

The date change for the highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford has created a direct scheduling conflict with a major UFC event, posing a significant challenge for Dana White.

Originally set for September 12th, the fight, which was expected to headline the debut of White`s TKO Boxing promotion, was officially moved to Saturday, September 13th, by Turki Alalshikh. This decision comes as White has reportedly been taking a step back from some UFC responsibilities, even skipping a recent post-fight press conference.

Canelo vs Crawford Now Set to Clash with Huge UFC Event

This new date of September 13th clashes directly with the UFC`s annual Noche UFC event. While last year`s Noche UFC was a unique event held in The Sphere, this year`s iteration, also known as UFC 320, is scheduled to take place in Guadalajara, Mexico. This marks a significant moment as it will be the first Noche UFC event held in Mexico.

Adding complexity to the situation, Alalshikh announced that the Canelo vs. Crawford bout will now be a Riyadh Season PPV event, with no immediate clarity on TKO Boxing`s precise involvement.

Canelo vs Crawford Still Doesn`t Have a Location Set

Although the location for the super middleweight title fight remains undecided, Alalshikh has indicated that several options are being considered. Initially, the event was planned for Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, despite White`s known reservations about hosting events in large stadiums.

More specific details regarding the venue and other fight information are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. This overlap in scheduling presents a logistical puzzle, raising questions about how Dana White will manage promoting two significant combat sports events potentially on the same day or within the same week in different international locations.
