World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz shared his aspiration to be a role model for the younger generation.
“For me, the most important thing in life is to be kind and a good person. I want to inspire children, just like Nadal and Federer inspired me. They were my idols, and I always considered them very open and pleasant people,” Alcaraz stated.
He also commented on the evolution of tennis over the past two decades. “Tennis has changed significantly in the last 20 years. We play at a much faster pace, and I believe our sport will continue to evolve. I believe I can influence behavior both on and off the court. A smile can be a weapon against opponents; when I smile, I enjoy myself and perform at my best,” the Spaniard explained in a Louis Vuitton interview.
Furthermore, the 21-year-old acknowledged his occasional misjudgment under pressure during matches.
“It`s crucial to accept that I won`t always play perfectly and to persevere. When faced with challenges, you must fight to achieve your goals. My approach is to emulate the practices of the greatest players in history.”
Alcaraz reflected on past experiences, saying, “Sometimes, I`ve been ahead in a match and feeling confident, but then I`ve reduced my intensity and ended up losing. I`ve learned valuable lessons from these experiences. I believe that in critical moments, I often rely on instinct, acting on my feelings, which is not always the right approach. Perhaps, I should adhere to tactics more closely.”
