Carlos Alcaraz: “Sinner is the best player in the world”

Four-time Grand Slam champion and World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz, the 22-year-old Spanish tennis star, recently shared his perspective on his rivalry with Italian Jannik Sinner, the current World No. 1.

Alcaraz stated, “Sinner is the best player in the world, despite being sidelined for three months. He performs strongly in every tournament and wins almost every match. I become even more focused when I face him. You cannot beat him unless you demonstrate your highest level. He possesses a unique aura. I wouldn`t claim to feel the same way as Rafa and Roger did when they competed against each other, but I definitely sense a different energy when Jannik and I meet on court.”

Speaking at a press conference, Alcaraz also commented on his immediate future and sources of confidence. “Right now, all attention is directed towards Paris. Everyone is focused on Roland Garros. Victories over Jannik, winning in Rome… these achievements provide substantial confidence. I always maintain that a final is not merely about participating in the title match, but about winning it. I am currently very happy. I plan to cherish this moment with my family, team, and friends who came from home. I will take a few days to rest and fully appreciate what I have accomplished. That is equally important. Following that, I will concentrate on Roland Garros.”

Carlos also elaborated on his current emotional state this season.

He explained, “Frankly, I feel completely different now. I approach matches with a new mindset, which is something I am very proud of. I have rediscovered the correct path. Previously, I would get very anxious during matches and was unable to manage my emotions as effectively as I do now. I was overly focused on the outcomes, on the necessity to win. Today, I approach things in a totally different way. I am happy; I am proud of the life I am experiencing.”
