Casemiro appears poised to finish his playing career at Manchester United, following a significant change of heart from manager Ruben Amorim.
The former Real Madrid midfielder`s future at Old Trafford seemed uncertain earlier this summer due to a noticeable decline in his performance.
However, the Brazilian international has rediscovered his form in recent weeks, playing a key role in the Red Devils` European campaign.
According to sources within the club, Amorim has been working closely with Casemiro at their Carrington training ground and now sees him as a vital component in the club`s rebuilding efforts.
Amorim reportedly believes that Casemiro`s extensive experience and versatility will be crucial assets as he aims to restore success at Old Trafford.
Consequently, staying at Manchester United has become a genuine possibility for Casemiro, despite previous links to potential moves to Major League Soccer in America and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
While lucrative offers might be available elsewhere, individuals close to the player indicate he is content in England and open to completing his career at the top level of football.
He currently commands a substantial weekly wage of £375,000, making him one of the highest earners at the club.
Ahead of United`s important Europa League match against Athletic Club, Casemiro spoke about his enduring passion for elite football in an interview with the club`s official matchday programme.
“But I always want more. I always want to earn it, to win, that is the winning mentality.
People only see the 90 minutes, I always say ‘the matches are the reflection of what you do every day’ and that is me – always working.
Whether I play or don’t play, I am there every day. That is me as a person, that is me. Whether I play or not – all I want is for United to win.
If United win, I am winning. The most important is that United win. It is not about me winning or another player winning, it is about United winning.
I want to help in any way I can, I will be there. This is my mentality. That is why I have won what I have won in my career.”
The Brazilian joined Manchester United for £70 million in the summer of 2022.
He notably scored United`s second goal in their 4-1 semi-final victory over Bilbao on Thursday. This goal added to the one he scored in the first leg, which contributed to setting up Amorim`s side for a 3-0 win at San Mames.
