Chelsea vs Man Utd Pitch Invader ‘Speared’ as Steward Compared to WWE Icon

Football news

A pitch invader at Stamford Bridge was brought down in a manner described as a “spear,” leading fans to compare the swift-tackling steward to a WWE legend.

Players from both Chelsea and Manchester United witnessed the fan run onto the pitch during the Premier League match before a security staff member brought him down with a skilled tackle.

Onlookers were impressed by the steward`s effective action, which occurred deep in stoppage time as Chelsea secured a crucial 1-0 victory.

One social media user commented: “The highlight of this game is the pitch invader getting speared by the steward. A proper prime Goldberg spear.”

This comment referenced WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg.

The 58-year-old former professional wrestler is a five-time world champion.

Another fan remarked about the invader, who wore a blue top: “Bro got speared into a different species…. Unreal from the Steward.”

And one viewer jokingly suggested the tackler was former Chelsea captain John Terry.

Television cameras captured the incident during the live broadcast.

The invader ran towards the centre of the pitch, coming close to several players.

The blue-topped fan was just about to receive a huge shock.

Manchester United substitute Manuel Ugarte turned in surprise as the man ran past him.

Chelsea`s Romeo Lavia also turned to observe the situation unfold nearby.

Moments later, two stewards reached the invader.

And as one steward tackled the man to the ground, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke watched the scene.

Television coverage quickly shifted to Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

This may be partly because broadcasters often choose not to focus on pitch invasions.

The brief interruption lasted less than a minute, with referee Chris Kavanagh blowing the final whistle shortly after.
