Sport news

American World No. 3 Coco Gauff commented on her defeat in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. She was beaten by Italian Jasmine Paolini with a final score of 4-6, 2-6.

Speaking after the match, Gauff stated, “I`m proud of my performance at both the Madrid and Rome tournaments. However, I`m also disappointed that I wasn`t able to play my best in the final.”

Giving credit to her opponent, Gauff added, “Jasmine played great tennis today. She made things uncomfortable for me on court. Honestly, Jasmine deserved to win. She`s very strong on clay.”

Gauff also reflected on her own strategy, explaining, “Against certain opponents, I know I have to be more aggressive than usual and take risks that aren`t entirely comfortable. That`s why I had so many double faults today.”

Gauff made these remarks during her post-match press conference.
