World No. 3 Coco Gauff commented on the fact that for the first time in 20 years, three American female tennis players are in the WTA Top 5 rankings. Besides Gauff, these are No. 4 Jessica Pegula and No. 5 Madison Keys.
“It’s truly incredible to be surrounded by so many talented women. This is great for American tennis, both women’s and men’s. I hope one of us will take the title here, preferably me,” Gauff said in an on-court interview after her opening victory in Miami.
