Conor McGregor Reportedly Turned Down KSI Fight

Boxing news

Mams Taylor, the manager of YouTuber and boxer KSI, has stated that Conor McGregor declined an offer to fight KSI. Taylor, who co-manages Misfits Boxing with KSI, believed a fight agreement was in place between McGregor and boxing organizer Turki Alalshikh. This event was planned for Alcatraz Island, but allegedly, McGregor withdrew at the last minute.

KSI Fight Deal Fell Apart, Claims McGregor`s Refusal

During a Misfits News episode, promoter Mams Taylor discussed various topics in crossover boxing, including KSI`s next fight. He brought up the possibility of a fight with Conor McGregor that ultimately did not occur.

“Regarding Conor McGregor, we believed it was a done deal, and we were informed it was finalized,” Taylor told hosts Ben Davis and Biel. He mentioned the fight was intended for Alcatraz and arranged through Turki Alalshikh.

When questioned about the deal`s collapse, Taylor responded, “I`m not privy to the exact details of negotiations with Conor. However, I believe Conor recently made a statement subtly referencing it, so you can refer back to that.”

Taylor added, “He aims to be a politician, and who knows what the future holds? I think it would be an incredibly exciting and massive fight, drawing huge viewership and pay-per-view numbers. KSI was exceptionally enthusiastic about this prospect, more so than I`ve ever witnessed. I advised him to temper his expectations despite the widespread belief it was a done deal, given it involved Conor McGregor and unforeseen situations could arise.”

Taylor concluded by saying that Turki Alalshikh is capable of making this significant fight happen, emphasizing its potential scale and impact in terms of viewership and revenue.

McGregor Stated He Rejected Alcatraz Fight Offer

McGregor`s statement, which Taylor referenced, occurred at a BKFC press conference last month. McGregor spoke about a potential fighting comeback, noting his current focus on his Irish presidential campaign and his rejection of a fight offer in Alcatraz.

“There was a recent opportunity, or agreement, to fight in Alcatraz,” McGregor explained. “They approached me for an event in Alcatraz, supposedly in June. However, the offer did not meet my valuation.”

“As a fighter, understanding your worth is crucial. I hold pay-per-view and gate records, and my return will be considered the greatest and most anticipated comeback ever. Therefore, it needs to be right. Currently, my focus is on Ireland, but a comeback will happen, I`m sure.”
