Dana White Steps In to Stop Near Brawl at Canelo vs Crawford Press Conference

Boxing news

Dana White faced an immediate challenge in his role as a boxing promoter during the recent press conference.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the UFC CEO would oversee the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford fight scheduled for September 13.

Fans were surprised when Dana White did not attend the super fight’s first press conference on Friday.

However, he was present at the subsequent press conference in New York on Sunday and intervened to prevent a physical altercation when Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford had a face-off.

Following the formal proceedings, the two boxing superstars stood face-to-face for the traditional staredown.

Canelo apparently felt his opponent was too close, as he forcefully pushed him away.

Although initially caught off guard, White reacted swiftly, stepping between Canelo and Crawford.

Crawford attempted to confront the Mexican legend despite White and several security personnel intervening to keep them separated.

After the situation de-escalated, Canelo and Crawford posed together again with the Ring Magazine belt.

This time, White ensured they remained separated to avoid a repeat incident and prevent things from turning ugly again.

Dana White’s Plan for Boxing

The announcement of the new boxing league involving Dana White and Turki Alalshikh received varied reactions from fans.

White further elaborated on his plans to `fix` boxing, presenting what he described as a revolutionary approach.

In March, he stated, “Where do you begin? Probably making the best fight the best, I`d start there.”

He added, “Listen, my model is way different.”

White explained, “Turki has obligations over the next 18 months. I want to break this sport down and build it from the ground up like we did with the UFC, so I`m on a different path.”
