Darren Till has voiced his disappointment regarding the cancellation of his scheduled boxing match next week in Manchester.
The former UFC welterweight contender was preparing to face Darren Stewart as part of the ‘Unfinished Business’ event’s co-main event. However, KSI had to withdraw from the main event against Dillon Danis due to illness.
This cancellation has created uncertainty for the entire undercard, although the promotion has promised to announce a new date within the next week. Dillon Danis is also scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson on May 24 in Los Angeles, which might affect his availability in the near future.
Darren Till Speaks Out on Fight Cancellation
Darren Till’s return to boxing was highly anticipated after his previous victory against Anthony Taylor in January. He was set to face Darren Stewart, a former UFC fighter of similar size.
Following the cancellation, Till stated on Instagram that he was ready to fight anytime, anywhere, regardless of weight. He mentioned that the event is likely postponed for a few weeks and expressed his frustration as he was in the final stages of training and feeling prepared.
Till acknowledged that these situations are common in the fight game and despite being disappointed, he remains experienced and understands the nature of the industry. He also mentioned he was confident about defeating Darren Stewart.
Undercard Fighters Heartbroken by Event Cancellation
While Darren Till offered a measured response, other fighters on the undercard were more openly devastated. Although rescheduling is expected, there is currently no confirmed new date, leaving fighters who were relying on their fight purses to cover training expenses in a difficult position.
Argentinian King, a lightweight fighter on the undercard, shared his personal struggles on Twitter, explaining that he had borrowed money for training camps and was now facing financial strain, especially with family and friends traveling to Manchester for the event.
Fox ‘The G’ Townley echoed these sentiments, highlighting the hardship of completing multiple training camps away from home without getting paid and the disappointment of not being able to showcase their progress.
Chase DeMoor, who was scheduled to fight Roman Fury, Tyson Fury’s brother, in a heavyweight bout, expressed his deep disappointment for his team and fans, stating the significant time, money, and effort invested in preparation, including missed personal events and travel.
