Darren Till reveals surprise plans for MMA future including major PFL U-Turn ahead of boxing return

Boxing news

Darren Till is considering a return to mixed martial arts, and surprisingly, this might not involve a comeback to the UFC as previously expected.

He departed the UFC in 2023 to pursue boxing, where his career has been inconsistent with only two bouts. He is scheduled to headline Misfits Boxing 21 on Friday, May 16, against fellow UFC veteran Darren Stewart. This fight is another rescheduled bout following his win over Anthony Taylor.

Till consistently stated that any return to the MMA cage would be for his anticipated comeback to the premier promotion. However, he recently revealed that he is now considering another organization for his return.

Darren Till Discusses Potential PFL Move

Since leaving the UFC after his loss to future champion Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282, Darren Till has maintained a strong relationship with the promotion. He had previously declined offers for other MMA fights, preferring to concentrate on boxing.

However, he is now open to a move to the PFL, one of the UFC`s main competitors. Speaking about a potential comeback, he said he feels he is “not too old” for the sport and his “body`s not broken,” despite previous knee problems. He added that he feels “fresh” and has a “solid brain,” dismissing concerns about long-term damage or CTE.

Till stated, “So I might go back… Depending on things, I might try my hand at the PFL, have a little go.” He mentioned communicating with the PFL and liking their organizational structure, expressing a desire to “love a bash at it.” He acknowledged uncertainty about whether the UFC would take him back after fighting elsewhere but believes he “still have a few years left in me.”

Till Faces Stewart in Misfits Boxing

Before any potential return to MMA, Till is scheduled to face Darren Stewart in his second Misfits Boxing appearance. Both fighters are veterans of the UFC, although Till achieved significantly more success during his time there.

The two are set to meet in a rearranged fight in Derby. Till commented on the matchup, saying, “Darren did well in the UFC, he was always tough and was quite game but we were on different paths during our time in the UFC. But now he’s here, we’re both having a go at the boxing and we’re going to have a tear up in Derby in two weeks… It was always going to be the main event.”
