Former world number three, David Ferrer, has been re-elected to the position of captain for the Spanish Davis Cup team, with his new term running until 2027.

According to the local federation, the decision to have David Ferrer continue as captain was “absolutely clear” for the management. They stated that few individuals embody the spirit of this legendary tournament as effectively as Ferrer. Furthermore, they highlighted that having been a professional player himself until recently, David possesses an unparalleled understanding of the tennis Tour.

Ferrer initially took on the role of team captain at the end of 2023.

Separately, David Ferrer will be stepping down from his position as tournament director for the Barcelona Open.
