Dillon Danis Criticizes Devin Haney After Underwhelming Ring Return

Boxing news

Devin Haney returned to the ring on Friday night in New York, but his performance failed to impress many observers, including fellow fighter Dillon Danis.

Haney`s previous fight was a surprising loss to Ryan Garcia in April of last year, although that result was later changed to a no contest due to Garcia failing a drug test.

Aiming for a comeback, `The Dream` fought at the Fatal Fury event in Times Square on May 2nd. Both Haney and Garcia were featured on the same fight card, which also included Teofimo Lopez.

Following the evening`s underwhelming bouts, neither Haney nor Garcia did much to generate excitement for a potential rematch.

Dillon Danis, known for his frequent criticism, particularly focused on Haney after the 26-year-old boxer secured what many considered an uninspired victory.

Dillon Danis Mocks Devin Haney as His Fight is Labeled a “Worst of the Year” Candidate

Using several social media posts, Dillon Danis ridiculed Devin Haney`s lackluster performance in his first fight after more than a year away.

Although `The Dream` defeated Jose Ramirez decisively according to the scorecards (119-109, 119-109, and 118-110), neither fighter managed to land many impactful punches.

After the co-main event concluded, the Haney vs. Ramirez bout quickly became a contender for the year`s most disappointing fight.

The two fighters threw a combined 503 punches, marking the third-lowest total ever recorded by CompuBox for a 12-round fight. Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero, however, threw even fewer in their bout later that night, totaling just 490.

While the main event offered a highlight with Romero knocking down Garcia in the second round en route to an upset victory, Haney`s fight lacked any similar memorable moments.

Danis made several posts mocking the highly-regarded American boxer, despite Haney maintaining his undefeated record at 33-0.

Wanna thank Devin Haney for the miracle, my boy been in a wheelchair 34 years he finally got up to turn off the TV

Devin Haney really put the city that never sleeps to sleep.

Dillon Danis Extends Criticism to Boxing After Disappointing Event

Dillon Danis, whose only professional boxing match ended in a disqualification loss to Logan Paul in October 2023, proceeded to criticize the sport of boxing itself.

Despite the high-profile location of Times Square and the notable names on the card, the Fatal Fury event was widely seen as a letdown, potentially diminishing excitement for a potential rematch between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia.

Never want to hear anyone say boxing is more exciting than MMA ever again.

Danis continued his comparison of boxing to MMA, suggesting that the UFC`s bantamweight champion could easily defeat all six fighters involved in the night`s main bouts in rapid succession.

Boxing’s a joke when Merab Dvalishvili could run through all 6 guys in the main event back-to-back, no rest, and finish them all in under 30 minutes.

The controversial 31-year-old currently has no upcoming fights announced, following canceled bouts with KSI in boxing and Tony Ferguson in MMA.
