Eddie Hall, known as “The Beast,” is set to make his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) debut in Poland, and the rules for his anticipated fight have now been confirmed.
Hall will face off against fellow former World`s Strongest Man champion, Mariusz Pudzianowski.
Hall previously had an MMA appearance in a two-on-one handicap match against the Neffati Brothers, where he secured a third-round TKO victory. However, his professional combat sports debut was less successful; he lost a boxing match to Hafthor Bjornsson before transitioning to MMA.
The two strongman legends will now collide in the octagon. Pudzianowski holds a significant experience advantage in MMA, having competed 26 times. He is also a five-time World`s Strongest Man champion, compared to Hall`s one title.
Rules and Rounds for Hall vs. Pudzianowski Bout
The contest will adhere to standard professional MMA rules. Despite featuring two former strongmen, it is being treated as a legitimate MMA fight, not a crossover spectacle. This means numerous actions are prohibited, including:
- Headbutting
- Eye Gouging
- Fish Hooking (pulling on body cavities)
- Biting or Spitting at the opponent
- Piledriver (spiking the opponent on their head)
- Downward pointing elbows
- Strikes to the spine or back of the head
- Knees or kicks to the head of a grounded opponent
- Throat strikes or grabbing the trachea
- Groin strikes or low blows
- Small joint manipulation (e.g., finger locks)
- Hair pulling
Regarding the duration, the fighters agreed to compete over two rounds, each lasting four minutes.
Hall expressed concerns about his cardio endurance compared to Pudzianowski and initially pushed for shorter rounds.
Prior to the fight, Hall commented: “I wanted two-minute rounds. Mariusz wanted five-minute rounds, and somehow we`ve met in the middle, nowhere near the middle at four. So four-minute rounds is a big ask for me, but it was literally, I say yes to that or the fight is off. I had no choice.”
