It`s clear that Jake Paul has significantly improved since starting his boxing career, and this is beginning to be acknowledged.
Last Saturday, Paul returned to the ring after his debated victory over Mike Tyson in November, facing former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
The fighter known as `The Problem Child` again polarized fans by securing a clear unanimous decision win against the Mexican.
After this bout, the 28-year-old is closer to his ultimate boxing aspirations, having entered the WBA world rankings.
Eddie Hearn Acknowledges Paul`s `Considerable` Improvement
Throughout his brief professional career, Paul has faced criticism, often accused of selecting smaller opponents. Eddie Hearn, a prominent figure in boxing promotion and a frequent critic of Paul, has often stated that Paul lacks `respect for boxing` based on his opponent choices.
However, in a notable change, following Paul`s win over Chavez Jr. last Saturday, Hearn offered the 28-year-old some uncharacteristic praise.
“I think you’ve got to start, and it’s hard to say, just giving Jake a little bit of credit,” Hearn remarked.
Hearn noted Paul completed 10 rounds, adding, `Chavez is… he was finished 10 years ago but he was once a decent fighter and he did have a proper training camp… I think Jake’s boxing IQ has improved considerably, I think he can whack, I think he’s got a decent chin and he’s putting the work in.` While dismissing the idea of Paul being top 15 globally, Hearn conceded, `has he improved, absolutely… I would say Jake is top 100 in the cruiserweight division.`
Hearn Dismisses Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua Matchup
Following the fight, Paul challenged several notable fighters, including Zurdo Ramirez, Badou Jack, and Anthony Joshua.
Despite Paul`s post-fight face-off with Ramirez, Hearn asserted Paul couldn`t defeat Ramirez even with numerous attempts. He also strongly rejected the notion of Paul fighting Anthony Joshua, although he acknowledged his team might consider the possibility.
