Eight representatives from the USA will compete in the quarter-finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Houston.
The following players have reached this stage: Tommy Paul (1), Frances Tiafoe (2), Brandon Nakashima (4), Alex Michelsen (5), Aleksandar Kovacevic, Christopher Eubanks, Colton Smith (Q), and Jenson Brooksby (Q).
Historical Precedent
This is only the second instance of such an American quarterfinal lineup since 1990. The first occurred in 1991 in Orlando, predating the birth of all current participants. Back then, the eight players were Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Brad Gilbert, Derrick Rostagno, Jimmy Arias, David Pate, MaliVai Washington, and Chuck Adams. Agassi ultimately defeated Rostagno in the final.
