Jose Mourinho`s Fenerbahce is reportedly closing in on signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. The Turkish club has offered £15 million to secure the services of the 25-year-old, aiming to end his difficult spell at Old Trafford.
A key factor in the potential move is Fenerbahce`s willingness to match Sancho`s substantial wage demands, reported to be £10 million per season.
Sancho recently returned to Manchester United after a loan period at his former club, Borussia Dortmund. This loan followed a public falling out with then-United manager Erik ten Hag, whom Sancho accused of making him a “scapegoat”.
His time at United since his £73 million arrival from Dortmund in 2021 has been largely disappointing.
With his future at Old Trafford uncertain under the current management structure, Sancho is actively seeking a transfer.
While Italian club Juventus are rumoured to be interested in a swap deal, Manchester United are keen on a straightforward cash sale, valuing Sancho at around his current £15 million book value, which would help their financial sustainability regulations (PSR).
Fenerbahce appears to be the leading candidate, with Mourinho believing Sancho could be a pivotal player for the club as they compete for the Turkish league title.
Many clubs have been put off by Sancho`s high salary, reported to be £300,000 per week. However, Turkey`s more favourable tax rates make it feasible for Fenerbahce to offer Sancho a comparable take-home pay to his current United salary.
