Giovanni van Bronckhorst has officially joined Arne Slot`s backroom team at Liverpool.
The former Arsenal defender and fellow Dutchman is set to become an assistant coach for the Premier League champions, following John Heitinga`s departure to become Ajax`s head coach.
The 50-year-old brings significant experience, having managed several prominent European clubs.
Van Bronckhorst took charge of Feyenoord in 2015, where he guided them to the Eredivisie title in the 2016/17 season before leaving in 2019.
He also spent a season with Rangers in 2021/22, winning the Scottish Cup and reaching the Europa League final, where they were narrowly defeated by Frankfurt on penalties.
His most recent managerial spell was at Besiktas, but it concluded prematurely.

Joining the Turkish club in 2024, Van Bronckhorst was relieved of his duties after just 20 matches following a poor run of form with four losses in their last six games.
As a player, GVB had a distinguished career, notably at Arsenal, where he won the FA Cup in 2003.
Following his time with the Gunners, he had a loan spell that led to a permanent move to Barcelona in 2004.
At the Nou Camp, he achieved significant success, winning the Champions League in 2006 and securing consecutive La Liga titles in 2005 and 2006.

Van Bronckhorst arrives at a Liverpool side that had a dominant Premier League campaign last season. He is expected to play a crucial role in integrating new summer signings such as Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.
Alongside staff additions, Liverpool have also announced changes within their existing coaching setup ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Goalkeeper coaches Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel are set to leave the club.

This move coincides with the return of Xavi Valero, who has been appointed as the new head goalkeeper coach. Valero previously worked with Liverpool under Rafa Benítez back in 2007.
