Boxing news

Mikaela Mayer, a champion in multiple weight classes, has challenged Holly Holm to a world title boxing match, potentially marking Holm`s return to professional boxing.

Holm, already a Boxing Hall of Famer, transitioned to UFC years ago, achieving a historic victory by knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in 2015.

Earlier this year, Holm departed from UFC despite remaining fights on her contract, signaling her interest in revisiting her boxing career and addressing what she perceives as unfinished business.

Mayer Ready to Defend Welterweight Title Against Holm

In a recent podcast appearance, Mikaela Mayer discussed women`s boxing and mentioned that while respecting legends like Holly Holm, she believes current champions face a higher level of competition.

When asked if Holm could become a world champion today, Mayer acknowledged Holm`s boxing pedigree but confidently stated her readiness to face her: “If she came to my division? No she wouldn’t be because she wouldn’t beat me. She can come and try though; Mayer vs Holm!”
