Arsenal icon Ian Wright is mentoring former Gunners academy star Mika Biereth, who has been impressive since departing North London.
Biereth, 22, was once considered a future prospect for Arsenal`s attack after joining in 2021. However, despite not breaking into the first team, he is now scoring goals in France while Arsenal seeks a new striker.

The London-born Danish international never made a professional appearance for Arsenal but had opportunities during pre-season tours.
Despite not succeeding at Arsenal, he gained a valuable mentor: Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
Biereth reached out to Wright for advice on breaking into the first team and maximizing his potential at Hale End.
Wright`s guidance seems to be effective, as Biereth has been scoring consistently in Ligue 1 since joining Monaco in January.
In an interview with Get French Football News, Wright shared that he connected with Biereth at his local pub.
Wright stated, “I always commend Mika for reaching out to me years ago. He sought advice on his game, his situation at the club, and his next steps.”
He added, “I respect him for being proactive and open to seeking guidance. After he contacted me, we met at my local pub and have remained in contact ever since.”
Biereth approached Wright, who scored 185 goals in 288 games for Arsenal, hoping to gain insights on securing a first-team spot.

Despite his efforts, Biereth didn`t break into Arsenal`s first team and was loaned to Motherwell in Scotland and Sturm Graz in Austria to gain experience.
He particularly impressed at Sturm Graz, scoring nine goals in six months last season, contributing to their league title win and securing a permanent transfer to Austria this summer for around £4 million.

Biereth`s form improved further after his permanent move, scoring 11 goals in 16 league games before Monaco signed him for £10.8 million in January.
He has continued his impressive goal-scoring record at Monaco, netting 11 goals in just nine Ligue 1 games, including three hat-tricks.
His performances earned him his first call-up to the Danish national team during the international break.
Wright is delighted to see Biereth`s success and remains in contact with the forward.
Wright commented, “I’m incredibly proud of him, it’s an amazing record so far and long may it continue. He’s also contributing to the team overall.”
Despite Arsenal`s current need for a striker due to injuries, Wright acknowledges Biereth`s departure, stating, “If I’m honest it must’ve been something with Arsenal`s plans. Mika should’ve been involved at the moment.”
Wright recalled advising Biereth to showcase his abilities during Arsenal`s pre-season and give his best effort.
He added, “But he showed courage by moving to Scotland, then Austria, and now France, demonstrating his ambition to be the best.”
“He has to play consistently to prove himself. His record speaks for itself. While it`s disappointing for Arsenal, I am personally thrilled for him.”
