Island Boys personality Flyysoulja has strongly denied accusations circulating that his upcoming boxing match against his brother, Kodiyakredd, scheduled for Friday night, is predetermined or `fixed`.
The siblings, known for their rapping, reportedly have almost no personal animosity between them, aside from a minor disagreement about who possesses more social media followers. Furthermore, they both insist that they are not participating in this bout for financial gain. These factors have led to speculation and questions regarding the actual motivations behind their celebrity boxing event.
Just last month, Kodiyakredd had his first professional boxing experience in a cage, notably in front of UFC President Dana White. White even placed a bet, winning $10,000 by backing Kodiyakredd`s opponent. Now, only a few weeks later, the Florida native is returning to the ring, this time to face his brother, who has limited prior combat sports experience.
Island Boys Address Claims of a Rigged Match
Observers interested in betting on the fight have noticed that while the rest of Friday night`s fight card, which is supported by a betting company and sanctioned by ISKA (International Sport Kickboxing Association), has available odds, there are no betting lines offered for the Island Boys` specific match. This absence of odds, combined with the lack of a visible feud, has fueled claims among some fans that the fight will be `rigged`.
Flyysoulja, whose legal name is Alex Venegas, expressed offense at these allegations. During a pre-fight press conference, the rapper challenged viewers directly, stating they should not bother watching if they believe the bout is illegitimate.
Venegas referenced Adin Ross seemingly expressing concern over comments suggesting the fight would be rigged. Venegas then issued a direct challenge: “Hold on, do me a favor, if you think it’s going to be fake, it’s going to be rigged, it’s going to be fake? Just turn off the app [Kick, where the fight is being streamed] and uninstall it. I bet you won’t, I bet any money in your bank account you won’t.”
Reasons for the Island Boys Fight Remain Unclear
Following Kodiyakredd`s loss last month, he was expected to compete again in June as part of Brand Risk Promotions` next event. However, it was unexpectedly announced that he would face his brother instead. Flyysoulja was originally slated to fight against another internet personality, Charleston White.
The change occurred because Charleston White reportedly failed medical examinations due to age and various health issues. Consequently, the brothers agreed to fight each other. Despite this, there appeared to be no real hostility between the pair, further confusing fans, especially after they were seen shaking hands during a face-off.
Adding to the ambiguity surrounding their motivation, both brothers insist that their participation in the fight is not driven by money. This naturally leads to questions about the actual purpose of the match. However, both individuals command significant online viewership and have been given a prominent position as the co-main event on Adin Ross`s seventh major production.
It seems Jordan Galen, who is described as playing a role for Adin Ross similar to Hunter Campbell for Dana White in the UFC, offered the fight to Flyysoulja after his initial opponent was unable to compete. Flyysoulja confirmed this during the press conference, stating, “I had to think about it… We chopped it up and I was like ‘yeah’…” He also added that he had already been training diligently for his previous opponent and had remained committed to his training regimen and weight requirements since Galen informed him about facing his brother.
