Jack Grealish is reportedly being considered as a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Manchester City and England international is understood to have accepted that his time at the Etihad Stadium is nearing its end. Consequently, he is expected to be a highly sought-after player in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Clubs like Tottenham, Newcastle United, and his former team Aston Villa are all said to be among those showing interest in the player.
Italian champions Napoli are also strongly linked with the attacking midfielder, as manager Antonio Conte aims to strengthen his squad for next season`s Champions League campaign.
Adding to the list of potential suitors, German club Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly set to join the pursuit. Manchester City are believed to value Grealish at around £40 million.
Leverkusen`s new manager, Erik ten Hag, is reportedly a keen admirer of the 29-year-old and has suggested to the club`s management that Grealish could be the “perfect replacement” for Wirtz.
Florian Wirtz, 22, is widely expected to depart Leverkusen this summer. Liverpool are considered strong favourites for his signature, despite seeing a substantial £113 million bid rejected last week.
Wirtz`s potential departure is likely to provide former Manchester United boss Ten Hag with a significant transfer fund.
Following the signing of Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, Ten Hag is reportedly planning to allocate some of this budget towards enticing Grealish away from the Premier League.
Sources close to Grealish indicate that the prospect of playing football overseas is appealing to him.
He is reportedly motivated to make a fresh start and regain a place in the England national squad ahead of next summer`s World Cup.
A romantic return to his boyhood club, Aston Villa, is also understood to be an option that would interest Grealish.
However, Aston Villa`s failure to qualify for the Champions League could potentially hinder their chances when Grealish makes his final decision on his future.
SunSport previously exclusively revealed that Newcastle were interested in a loan deal for the player, who cost City £100 million, but would have to cover his full £300,000-a-week wages.
Grealish was reportedly told his City career was effectively over after reports emerged suggesting he would not be included in Pep Guardiola`s squad for the Club World Cup.
England manager Thomas Tuchel holds Grealish in high regard but wishes to see him playing consistently week in, week out before considering him for future squad selections.
