Jake Paul Backs Potential Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou Superfight

Boxing news

Jake Paul believes a highly anticipated `super-fight` between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou could be a fitting conclusion to the careers of both dominant heavyweights.

The controversial figure, known for his transition from YouTube to boxing, is an equity partner in the PFL promotion, which Ngannou currently represents. Paul has consistently expressed admiration for UFC heavyweight champion Jones, who has indicated willingness to defend his title against his long-time rival Ngannou.

Francis Ngannou has openly stated his desire to face Jones. However, such a bout would necessitate an unprecedented co-promotion agreement between UFC and PFL. While PFL is reportedly eager for the collaboration, securing the approval of UFC President Dana White remains a significant hurdle.

Jake Paul Supports Jon Jones` Challenge to Francis Ngannou

Recently, Jon Jones sparked discussion among fans by seemingly overlooking an immediate challenge from Tom Aspinall. Instead, Jones used X (formerly Twitter) to call out Francis Ngannou, who is often regarded as the `lineal` UFC heavyweight champion since his departure from the organization while holding the title.

The prospect of this super-fight, which both fighters have shown interest in since 2023, has captured the imagination of the MMA community following Jones` recent remarks. His challenge came shortly after comments from Ngannou`s coach, Eric Nicksick, suggested Ngannou might consider a return to the UFC.

Jake Paul, who holds a stake in PFL, shared his perspective on social media, expressing full support for the potential cross-promotional clash.

Paul tweeted about the matchup: “The perfect final dance for the two greatest MMA heavyweights of all time. Jon Jones wants it. Francis Ngannou wants it. Big fight for the sport. Big fight for the fans and Big business. Who doesn’t want it?”

Francis Ngannou Responds to Jon Jones` Challenge

Following Nicksick`s comments, Jones posted his initial message: “I’m hearing Francis Ngannou is still interested… now we’re talking. That’s a real super fight. A clash of champions, not just hype.”

He continued, highlighting the significance of the potential fight: “He held the UFC belt, I’ve defended mine for over a decade. Two kings from different roads. Not just one legend facing a mouth that’s hot right now, but two real legacies colliding. That’s the kind of fight that actually adds something special to my story. At least from my point of view.”

Ngannou responded to Jones, acknowledging the promotional challenge they both face: “You take care of the UFC, I’ll take care of the PFL, and we’ll finally find out who’s the KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHT.”
