The California State Athletic Commission has released Jake Paul`s official fight purse from last night, revealing a significant difference compared to his previous fight.
Last November, reports indicated the social media sensation earned $30 million for his eight-round Netflix bout against boxing legend Mike Tyson. However, less than a year on, his victory against former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr appears to have netted him only $300,000 – just one percent of the Tyson fight earnings.
While publicly disclosed purses often vary greatly from a fighter`s actual take-home pay, especially in high-tax states like California, this figure offers an interesting look at Paul`s potential earnings following his move back to DAZN pay-per-view from Netflix.
Disclosed Payouts: Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
According to the California State Athletic Commission, Jake Paul`s guaranteed purse for his ten-round unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr was a modest $300,000. In contrast, the former world champion Chavez Jr received more than double that amount, taking home at least $750,000.
These figures are dwarfed by the co-main event, where cruiserweight world champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez earned a significant disclosed purse of $1.5 million for facing Yuniel Dorticos. Dorticos, the challenger, also earned $300,000.

Former UFC champion Holly Holm also returned to boxing, securing a successful and profitable bout in a preliminary headliner against Yolanda Vega, earning $100,000. It`s important to reiterate, however, that publicly disclosed purses typically represent only a portion of a fighter`s total earnings.
Paul benefits from numerous high-profile sponsorships and owns Most Valuable Promotions, the company promoting the event. His total earnings will also include an undisclosed share of the record-breaking $1.53 million gate revenue, pay-per-view profits, and other potential income streams.
Comparing Earnings: The Reported $30M from Mike Tyson Fight
Reports suggest Paul`s fight against Mike Tyson last November at AT&T Stadium in Dallas yielded a massive $30 million payout. Although this figure remains unverified, the YouTuber-turned-boxer has stated his earnings were at the lower end of the $30-40 million spectrum.
During an appearance on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast, Paul mentioned his earnings for the Tyson fight were “like low 30s. Low 30 million.” He added, “I haven’t announced it yet, but I bought a ranch. A pretty expensive ranch. It wasn’t like right away after the Tyson fight, but I’ve been wanting to buy a ranch for the past 15 years.”
He explained that buying a ranch had been his dream and motivation for working hard, citing his love for activities like hunting, jet skiing, ATVs, fishing, horses, and cows.
Reflecting on his childhood trips to a cabin with his father, he said, “I grew up going to a cabin a lot with my dad, and so I’ve always just wanted to go back to that. I’ve been working towards buying a ranch for a really long time.” He revealed the ranch cost “$39 million… It’s massive. It’s a little bit bigger than I wanted, but when I got there, I was like, ‘I have to buy this’.”
