BRIGHTON`s game against Brentford was paused for a significant time when Jan Paul van Hecke was stretchered off the pitch after a serious head-on collision.
Following the incident, Van Hecke was quickly taken to the hospital for examinations after receiving oxygen on the field.
Fellow Dutch player Bart Verbruggen contacted Van Hecke`s wife to offer reassurance as news of the collision spread.

Jan Paul van Hecke was transported to the hospital wearing a neck brace after a frightening head clash with Yunus Konak during Brighton’s 4-2 defeat to Brentford.
The Brighton defender needed extended medical attention and oxygen on the field before being carried away on a stretcher.
Van Hecke, 24, was later released from the hospital after undergoing precautionary evaluations.
This worrying event occurred late in added time.
Konak, 19, also had to be substituted but was able to walk off the field.
Van Hecke briefly sat up while being assessed by medical personnel before being carefully laid back down and placed on a stretcher.
Both sets of fans applauded as the Dutch player was taken directly down the tunnel while receiving oxygen.
Sources indicate that he was then moved into an ambulance wearing an oxygen mask and still in his playing kit.
His family checked on him in the dressing room but did not accompany him in the ambulance.
Van Hecke was conscious and responsive, and his teammate and countryman, goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, called Van Hecke’s wife to reassure her as news of the collision circulated.

Van Hecke was stretchered off earlier due to a severe head collision and was promptly hospitalized.
However, Brighton has now announced that the defender has been discharged from the hospital and is heading home.
Brighton stated: “After being stretchered off at the end of today’s game, Jan Paul van Hecke was taken to hospital as a precaution but has now been discharged and is on his way back to Brighton.”
