Jannik Sinner Responds to Pope Francis’s Playful Comment

Sport news

World number one Jannik Sinner addressed a recent remark made by Pope Francis. The Pope had jokingly suggested that Sinner should not be invited to a potential charity tennis match involving the pontiff, humorously citing Sinner`s surname (which in English sounds like “sinner”) as the reason.

When asked about the possibility of playing a match with the Pope, Sinner responded, asking, “Match with the Pope? Why are you putting me in a difficult situation?” He added, “I know he played as a child, and it`s great for tennis players that the Pope loves our sport. We`ll see what happens next, we`ll see.” Sinner made these comments during a press conference following his third-round match in Rome.
