Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s Controversial Statement After Loss to Jake Paul

Boxing news

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has released his initial comments following his recent defeat to Jake Paul on Saturday evening.

Jake Paul made his return to the boxing ring last Saturday in Anaheim, California, facing off against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. This marked Paul`s first fight since his disputed victory over Mike Tyson in November.

`The Problem Child` once again drew boos from the crowd after securing a dominant unanimous decision victory over the former WBC middleweight champion. This win brings him one step closer to his stated goal of becoming a world champion.

After the bout, Paul directed a strong message towards his `haters`, noting that his fight with Chavez Jr. set a new gate attendance record at the Honda Center, marking another significant achievement in his contentious career.

Chavez Jr. Makes Controversial Post-Fight Remarks

Chavez Jr.`s performance drew criticism from Jake Paul`s brother, Logan Paul, who suggested that the Mexican fighter appeared unwilling to truly engage, resulting in what he called an `annoying fight for the fans`.

Throughout his relatively brief professional boxing career, Paul has consistently faced accusations of carefully selecting opponents and has repeatedly had to deny claims of fixed fights.

However, in his initial comments just hours after his loss, Chavez Jr. sparked debate by stating he `could never` knock out `The Problem Child`.

“I could never knock him out. I couldn`t knock out Jake Paul,” Chavez Jr. reportedly said in an Instagram story video. He continued, “Whoever the judges want, wins. I put on a great show and well, I hit him in the ass like I said I was going to. He said he was gonna drive me crazy, no, no. Here I am ready for what`s next, thank you everyone.”

It remains unclear whether Chavez Jr. was implying he was prevented from knocking Paul out, or if he was criticizing his own performance. However, with ongoing fan speculation that Paul`s fights are rigged, Chavez Jr.`s statement appears highly damaging.

Jake Paul Confronts World Champion After Victory

Leading up to the bout, the 28-year-old Paul stated that his ultimate ambition in boxing is to become a world champion, identifying Chavez Jr. as the initial challenge.

Consequently, after securing his win, `The Problem Child` had a face-off with Zurdo Ramirez, the current WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion, who had successfully defended his titles in the co-main event.

Even if Paul doesn`t immediately get a fight with Ramirez, despite his win potentially placing him in the top 15 rankings, he has also mentioned several other champions he is prepared to challenge next.
