Logan Paul might have a new boxing opponent as he plans his return to the ring.
It has been almost two years since Logan Paul last boxed, when he won against Dillon Danis due to disqualification. Despite his success in WWE and other ventures, Paul is still interested in boxing. He was rumored to fight UFC star Conor McGregor earlier this year, but the talks broke down.
Logan and his brother, Jake, have made a big impact in boxing, attracting a new fanbase. Jake has been the main attraction in major boxing events, including a future fight with boxing legend Mike Tyson in November.
Outside of fighting, Logan Paul has built his brand with businesses like his PRIME energy drink company. Recently, Paul has been critical of soccer star Lionel Messi`s drink, MAS, claiming Messi copied the PRIME brand.
Messi Bodyguard Steps In, Calls for Boxing Match with Logan Paul
Lionel Messi, playing for Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer in the USA, is a global sports icon. Anything associated with him gets a lot of attention.
After Logan Paul accused Messi and his team of copying his PRIME brand, Messi`s team responded in an unexpected way.
In a recent Instagram video, Messi’s bodyguard, Yassine Cheuko, challenged Paul to a fight.
“Logan, I’m making this video because many people stop me in the street,” Cheuko said to Paul. “They send me messages, and I see many comments on Instagram about this fight.”
“So, there’s no turning back now. Let’s make this fight happen for the fans. Let’s do it!”
Cheuko`s social media suggests he has a combat sports background, but there’s no official record of him competing. Cheuko is a former U.S. Navy SEAL and has been Messi`s bodyguard for some time.
As of now, Logan Paul has not responded to Cheuko’s challenge.
Logan Paul Seeks Next Fight After McGregor Talks Fail
Logan Paul`s professional boxing record is 1-1, with his win against Danis being his only victory. He lost to KSI in 2019 by split decision.
Paul also faced Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match in 2021 that went the distance and was watched by millions worldwide.
Danis previously claimed Paul interfered with his potential UFC contract before Danis signed with Global Fight League for MMA. Danis is expected to fight Tony Ferguson later this year.
Negotiations for a Paul vs. McGregor fight were reportedly advanced before UFC CEO Dana White blocked McGregor from taking the fight. McGregor has been out of action since injuring his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
Logan`s brother, Jake Paul, was close to fighting Canelo Alvarez before Alvarez signed a multi-fight deal. Jake Paul is currently without a scheduled boxing match.
It remains to be seen if Cheuko`s boxing challenge will be addressed, but the tension between Cheuko/Messi`s team and Paul is evident.
