Brazilian midfielder Joelinton is expected to miss the remainder of Newcastle`s campaign to qualify for the Champions League.
The key Newcastle player sustained an injury during training last Friday and had a scan on his knee over the weekend.

Joelinton has been a crucial component of Eddie Howe`s squad this season and played a part in the Magpies winning the Carabao Cup.
The 28-year-old has scored 4 goals and provided 3 assists as the team pushes for a place in the top four.
He did not feature in the 3-0 win against Ipswich on Saturday, marking his first game missed since encountering a knee problem in February.
Reports from The Daily Mail indicate that Joelinton`s current injury is serious enough to sideline the Brazilian for Newcastle`s final four Premier League fixtures.
Prior to the Ipswich match, manager Howe had confirmed that the midfielder`s knee was “not 100 per cent right” and that he would undergo further medical assessments.
The Newcastle boss commented: “He’s going to see a specialist and I’m sure he’ll be scanned there as well.”
“He trained yesterday and just felt that his knee wasn’t 100 per cent right.”
“That’s the knee that he had an injury with earlier in the season.”
“He’s done brilliantly to play through the number of games he has without being 100 per cent fit, but he got to the point where he felt it needed a slight intervention.”
“Let’s keep our fingers crossed it’s not serious.”
Newcastle is currently engaged in a tight five-team competition for the Champions League spots.
Eddie Howe`s side holds a two-point lead over Nottingham Forest in 6th place, although Forest has a game in hand.

Howe`s team travels to face Brighton this Sunday.
They will then conclude their season with matches against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton.
