Andre Onana is likely to remain Manchester United`s goalkeeper, not due to his strong performance, but because of other team priorities.
New manager Ruben Amorim had initially informed his recruitment team about his desire to bring in a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer, following a series of costly mistakes by Onana.

However, Amorim`s transfer budget will depend on player sales. Without significant departures, he has more pressing needs in other positions than replacing the 29-year-old Onana.
At the top of his list is a high-quality striker. He is also targeting a central defender, a left-back, and at least one additional midfielder.
Amorim had expressed interest in Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, 25, but the £63 million release clause was too expensive, potentially paving the way for Manchester City to sign him.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly very interested, especially with uncertainties surrounding Ederson and backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega`s future at the club.
Previously, Saudi Pro League clubs had shown interest in Onana. Sources suggest Manchester United would consider offers slightly above £20 million, but this interest seems to have diminished.
Onana was benched for the recent game against Newcastle after further errors in the 2-2 Europa League draw with Lyon.
However, he returned for the Europa League quarter-final second leg and, despite conceding four goals in a 5-4 victory, also made several crucial saves.
Since joining from Inter Milan in July 2023 for an initial £43.8 million, Onana has conceded 99 goals in just 69 Premier League appearances. Despite this, he is determined to prove his worth to the team.

Unless there are multiple player exits to increase the transfer funds, Amorim is likely to postpone the pursuit of a new goalkeeper and prioritize addressing other проблем areas first, starting with the attack.
Rasmus Hojlund`s performance has been disappointing, scoring only one goal for United since December. While Joshua Zirkzee has shown glimpses of potential, they have been infrequent, and he is currently injured.
Manager Amorim also believes there is a need for midfield reinforcement and strengthening the central defense.
Although Luke Shaw`s return provides relief at left-back, his history of injuries makes Amorim keen to bring in another ready-made first-team player for that position.
