Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, one of the sport`s greatest ever fighters, is openly welcoming UFC boss Dana White`s foray into the world of boxing.
Many within the boxing industry view White with skepticism, largely due to the numerous conflicts he`s encountered while building the UFC into the dominant force in combat sports. However, it appears Pacquiao doesn`t share these reservations, believing White`s involvement will benefit boxing.
The legendary eight-division world champion is currently preparing for his return to the ring at the age of 46. He is scheduled to face Mario Barrios on July 19 in Las Vegas, where he will compete for the WBC welterweight title, seeking yet another championship belt.
Manny Pacquiao Praises Dana White`s Move into Boxing
Manny Pacquiao has been actively preparing for his return next month, recently participating in a media workout in California. He invited press members to the renowned Wild Card Gym in Hollywood to observe his training and answer their questions afterward.
When asked about Dana White`s venture into the boxing landscape, Pacquiao expressed a positive view, highlighting White`s effectiveness as a promoter and his significant public profile. He also indicated that a long-speculated bout against Conor McGregor now seems improbable.
Regarding White`s move, Pacquiao stated, “That`s good. It`s beneficial because it genuinely assists the boxing sector. He ranks among the top promoters globally.”
Dana White Has Previously Shown Great Admiration for Manny Pacquiao
While their public interactions have been limited, Dana White has consistently expressed admiration for Manny Pacquiao over the years. In 2012, he declared himself “the biggest Manny Pacquiao fan ever,” even though he favored Juan Manuel Marquez to win their fourth fight.

He notably criticized veteran promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Boxing, calling him “a moron” for organizing the event where Marquez ultimately knocked out Pacquiao. During a media scrum at the time, White questioned, “Why would you accept that fight, you idiot?”
White argued, “It was purely for the money, a financial matchup, that`s its sole purpose. He should have fought [Timothy] Bradley; that was the correct fight. He would have defeated Bradley, regained his title, and been in the position he deserved.”
He concluded his remarks by stating, “He`s one of the sport`s greatest fighters… Bob Arum is arguably the most foolish promoter in history.”
