World No. 44 Matteo Arnaldi shared his insights following his victory over Novak Djokovic in the second round of the Madrid Masters, where he secured the win with a score of 6/3, 6/4.
“I`ve watched many of his matches and I`m very familiar with his style of play. This gave me an advantage, as he likely hasn`t seen many of my matches – perhaps just a couple. I went back and reviewed all of his matches, and it really paid off today. There were moments during the match where I could anticipate what he was going to do.”
“Of course, he`s not in his peak form right now, but he remains an exceptional player. It`s one thing to watch him on television and completely another to face him on the court. My thorough study of his game allowed me to sometimes predict his actions during our match,” Arnaldi stated during his post-match press conference.
