Mirra Andreeva Dismisses Health Concerns: “Everything is Fine Now”

Sport news

17-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva, currently the top-ranked Russian female player, addressed concerns about her health and physical condition, as well as the reasons for her defeat against American Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami.

“Everything is fine now. I wouldn’t say that I lost only because of health issues. Anisimova played a very good match. And I had many opportunities that I didn’t take advantage of,” Andreeva stated.

Andreeva downplayed worries about her physical state after winning two consecutive WTA 1000 tournaments in Dubai and Indian Wells.

“Of course, you get a little tired, but you don`t really have a choice – you just continue to play and know that rest will come soon. I wouldn’t say that I’m super tired,” Andreeva said, mentioning that she is still competing in Miami in doubles.

Earlier reports indicated that Andreeva experienced stomach pains three hours before her match with Anisimova, which persisted during the game. Mirra called for a doctor multiple times in the first set.
