Musetti Reflects on Rain Delay During Medvedev Match: “Replayed the Moment Hundreds of Times During the Wait”

Sport news

World number nine Lorenzo Musetti shared his experience and thoughts on the lengthy rain delay that occurred during his match against Daniil Medvedev in Rome. The fourth-round encounter was halted for nearly three hours due to adverse weather, specifically when Musetti held a crucial match point at a score of 7/5, 5/4, 40:30.

Recalling the challenging situation, Musetti stated, “A rain delay right on my match point was something I`d never encountered before in my career; it was far from easy to handle. While waiting for three hours, I must have replayed that specific moment – the serve – in my mind literally hundreds of times. Resuming play from such a high-pressure situation felt difficult initially, but eventually, I managed to relax and rediscover my rhythm.”

Musetti added in his on-court interview, “My serve was performing exceptionally well, and I`m incredibly pleased with that. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who remained in the stands until the very end.”
