Palace Boss Approves Guehi & Eze Sales to Fund £130m Squad Rebuild

Football news

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is reportedly prepared to sanction the sales of key players Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze this summer. The purpose is to generate funds for a significant squad overhaul.

Guehi`s exit is considered likely as he has only one year left on his contract. His former club Chelsea, along with Tottenham and Newcastle, are reportedly preparing bids.

Eberechi Eze could potentially also leave Selhurst Park, even though he still has two years left on his contract.

His contract includes a £60 million release clause that rival clubs can activate at the end of the season.

Glasner is reportedly unfazed by the possibility of both players leaving, as he is planning significant changes for the squad, who reached the FA Cup final (as per the source text).

The Austrian manager has requested the club sign up to six new players this summer, aiming to increase Palace`s physical strength. He is ready to sacrifice Eze if needed to fund these additions.

While the club`s progress to the FA Cup final against Man City at Wembley this month has pleased supporters, Glasner has occasionally been dissatisfied with his team`s inconsistent performances.

The 50-year-old coach is looking for players who are willing to work harder when not in possession. Jobe Bellingham of Sunderland is anticipated to be a target, especially if his Championship side is not promoted.

Last summer, Newcastle submitted a £70 million bid for Guehi. Crystal Palace, however, resisted this offer after selling Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £30 million instead.

Nevertheless, with no progress on a new contract, Palace are reportedly resigned to selling the 24-year-old this summer, and Newcastle is expected to bid again.

Tottenham`s attempt to sign Guehi with a late bid during the January transfer window was unsuccessful.

However, should Newcastle secure Champions League qualification, St. James` Park is likely to be a more attractive destination.

Spurs have also been monitoring Eze for some time but are expected to face competition from Manchester United. The 26-year-old`s release clause makes him a highly attainable target.
