Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa, currently ranked world No. 11, has announced her decision to withdraw from the WTA 1000 event in Miami and the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston.
“Hi everyone,” Badosa wrote in a social media post. “I`m sad to announce that I have to withdraw from the tournaments, including Miami. It`s been tough dealing with this ongoing pain and having to stop playing to recover again. I`m now entering another rehabilitation phase… I hope to be back soon. Thank you all for your support.”
A back injury forced Badosa to retire from the Miami Open WTA 1000 after her third-round victory over Clara Tauson of Denmark. Consequently, she was unable to compete in her fourth-round match against Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.
