Football news

Next season will be a historic one for the Premier League, as it will officially have FIVE teams competing in the prestigious Champions League tournament.

This extra Champions League spot was guaranteed thanks to Arsenal`s impressive 3-0 victory over Real Madrid, the current European champions, in their match on Tuesday.

This result increased England`s coefficient points to 24.535, placing them at the top of the UEFA country coefficient table.

Spain and Italy are currently competing for second place, with Spain holding 21.678 points and Italy with 20.187 points.

In UEFA competitions, a win earns a country two coefficient points, a draw earns one point, and a defeat earns no points.

The total points earned by all teams from a country are added together, and then divided by the number of clubs representing that country in European competitions that season to calculate the coefficient average.

Arsenal and Liverpool are currently on track to qualify for the Champions League for the 2025-26 season.

Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Fulham, and Brighton are all vying for the remaining Champions League and other European competition spots.

England only needed one win from any of its teams in European competitions this week to secure five Champions League places for the next season.

Arsenal achieved a comfortable 3-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium.

Declan Rice opened the scoring with a fantastic free kick in the 58th minute.

He then scored an even better free kick, placing it perfectly in the top-right corner of the goal.

Mikel Merino finalized the scoreline with a well-taken goal in the 75th minute.

After the game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta commented, “When you haven`t faced a team like Real Madrid for 20 years, you have the opportunity to create new history, and nights like these are when you can do just that.”

“These were magical moments. We are capable of even more. This victory will give us greater confidence.”

“I had belief, and you must believe. The atmosphere created by the fans was incredible; they gave us tremendous energy.”
