Roman Safiullin Reflects on Early Exit at Rome Masters

Sport news

Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin commented on his performance following his first-round match at the Rome Masters. Safiullin was defeated by Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan with a score of 3-6, 6-7(4).

“Honestly, the match did not go as planned,” Safiullin stated during his post-match press conference. “I had opportunities for breaks in both the first and second sets, but I was careless on my own serve. I made simple errors.”

Regarding the decisive tie-break in the second set, Safiullin remarked, “In the tie-break, I actually played reasonably well, but I felt a lack of self-belief at key moments. I didn`t play with sufficient confidence or aggression needed to put pressure on my opponent.”

Alexander Bublik is scheduled to face Norwegian Casper Ruud in the next round.
