President of the Russian Tennis Federation, Shamil Tarpischev, has shared his perspective on the prospects of the world No. 7, Mirra Andreeva.
Tarpischev believes it`s crucial to manage expectations surrounding the young tennis star. “Everyone thinks she should win every tournament, but we must not ruin her,” he cautioned. “A young athlete cannot perform consistently at the highest level; everything takes time. Overtraining or excessive pressure can hinder her development. She is progressing, but stability requires patience. When there is excessive hype around her, it won`t benefit her progress.”
He emphasized the significant impact of psychological factors. “Psychological pressure creates more problems than physical strain. It`s important to have a balanced approach. We should acknowledge her positive trajectory and vast potential – she has a bright future. However, we must protect her talent from negative external influences. Her coaches and inner circle need to provide consistent support to ensure her continued growth,” Tarpischev concluded.
